The New Blood Houses

"New Bloods were part of the natural growth of the Kingdom of Man, but eventually they were what ended it"

~Random Heretical Historian

Structure

The New Bloods were more of guild than a feudal system, true one could marry into the guild but one was more so recognized for their skill in artifice and the making of money than by their blood or kin. This remained true before and after the Great Rebellion and the fall of the Old Bloods and the Kingdom of Man.

Culture

The New Bloods started their rise in the name of making money and climbing to higher seats of power in doing so, a practice that still holds true to this day with cutthroat business practices and espionage when applicable. They are not above claiming someone to be a heretic to send the Holy Order of the Light do their dirty work for them.

Public Agenda

They started out with single goal in mind: to make money. As such they have done so and continue to do so, they toppled the Kingdom of Man in the name of their greed and desire for power. Though they may claim their ancestors overthrew the Old Bloods in the name of equality and to promote the welfare of people.

Assets

Though their armies are not as large and spread out as the Old Bloods and it has drastically shrunk since the Great Rebellion, each of the four Houses still command a large detachment of Warforged that can be found in almost any large city or town. In addition they have acquired a vast treasury of gold and ancient artifacts hidden away in the great cities of the Freelands, namely Central City being the most populous in New Blood control.

History

The New Bloods are the four latter day noble families that rose to political prominence economically, they rose to be peers of the descendants of the eight Companions (Old Bloods) and in service to the Highlander King whose ancestors founded the Kingdom of Man during the Great Revolution. They and the Holy Order of the Light overthrew the Old Bloods and the Highlander King in the Great Rebellion, which has lead to the present state of the Freelands.

Disbandment

The New Bloods still exist today, though they have expanded their roles throughout the Freelands and have become even more powerful than their time during the old Kingdom of Man and the Great Rebellion.

Demography and Population

Today and then, roughly 10% of the population can claim to be part of the New Bloods or at least in a guild that direct serves or is sworn to them. Most of their population resides in the large cities and towns seen throughout the Freelands.

Territories

The territory of the New Bloods during the height of the Kingdom of Man was limited to certain cities within territories of the Old Bloods, today they are spread rather evenly among all the regions of the Freelands and share cities and towns between Houses based upon local trade and guilds present.

Military

The military of the New Bloods both during the height of the Great Rebellion and present is made up of their own personal Warforged armies, specially crafted to serve them and to secure their homes and facilities.

Technological Level

The New Bloods are both the inventors and masters of artifice magic, as such they are the peak of all scientific and magical studies. The newest and great achievements in one way or another are always controlled by the New Bloods both ethically or not they will always claim them.

Religion

Since the Great Rebellion, the New Bloods worship only Lady Bellona Albion and pay tithes and indulgences to the Holy Order of the Light to keep them looking the other way with their practices and to keep ties with them so that the Templars won't come after them as well.

Foreign Relations

Like the Old Bloods before them they refuse to interact and trade with Avalon and have little to no relationship with it.

Agriculture & Industry

The New Bloods were and still are the sources of true industry within the Freelands, they invented artifice magic and helped sponsor many guilds and practices throughout the Freelands. This holds true since long before the Great Rebellion and has continued since to the present day.

Trade & Transport

With the fall of the Old Bloods and the Kingdom of Man, much of the old roadways and waterways have been compromised and become rather unsafe. As such security can be offered, at a price of course, to receive protection and guidance from a Warforged detachment from the New Bloods. Though protection from adventurers is cheaper, Warforged companies are rarely attacked by raiders and monsters.

Education

Education exists for the New Bloods solely within the guilds and their membership and their related to their chosen profession. There is no longer public schooling for both commoners and nobility alike, the cost to the New Bloods is too great so they leave it to individual guilds to fund these days.

Infrastructure

The infrastructure within the Freelands and the New Bloods is rather staggered yet connected, so that if one guild beneath a House fails then there won't be an adverse affect on the other guilds under the House. Multiple contracts and backroom deals ensure that the strongest guild will always come out on top and the House will always stay strong.
