The Island of Avalon
"Avalon is the last hope of Elf kind, until the day we retake our Freelands once more!"
Geography
The island of Avalon is curiously magical and very heavily forested territory, it is roughly a third of the size of the Freelands and is solely populated by Elves that fled the Freelands back during the Great Revolution over 4000 years ago. Most of the island is either surrounded by mountain range or dangerous reefs, the natural defenses have served them well over the centuries against any further purging attempts by Humankind and the rest of the Freelands.
There are four Halls on Avalon that represent the four oldest families that fled to Avalon during the purge of the Great Revolution, with the exception being Brightwood as they were there already. The southernmost Hall is Ironwood Hall, the home of the "Wood Elves", copper toned Elves who have dedicated themselves to mastering the ways of the bow and living with nature with a mastery of Green Magic. To the northeast of Ironwood Hall is Darkwood Hall and is the home of the "Dark Elves", gray to purplish Elves who have specialized in operating and surviving in complete darkness, both above and below the surface, and mastering the blade. To the northwest from there is Firewood Hall and the home of the "Pallid Elves", pale elves who live in the colder regions of Avalon and have dedicated themselves to studying new ways of using magic while refusing to abandon the ancient practices of magic. To the southwest from there and into the sea one will find Driftwood Hall and the home of the "Sea Elves", bluish aquatic Elves who have found a home in the sea and have adapted living there in a myriad of ways. Finally to the direct west from there is Brightwood Hall and the home of the golden skinned and prideful Elves known as "High Elves", they were the only Elves who were supposedly native to Avalon and welcomed their refugee kin to their shores and are just as eager to reclaim the Freelands as the rest of them.
Together, these five Halls come together with their Elders serving as representatives in the Elvish Council of Avalon.
Ecosystem
The ecosystem here greatly resemble that of most of the Freelands, save there is a greater forest and woodland area and density to it. As such there is a greater level of animal and plant life here as well, to Humans this land would see almost empty and full of opportunity and land. However by Elvish standards it is very crowded here for a race that enjoys wandering and living free with the world.
Ecosystem Cycles
As this is the Material Plane, Avalon observes the same cycles of day and night and the seasons as the Freelands do.
Localized Phenomena
Due to the "high" population of Elves present and their magical practices; the veil between the Feywild, the Shadowfell, and the Material Plane tends to be thinner here than on the Freelands itself. Though only a few thousand Elves here due to their long life expectancy and the low birth rates here, so the veil's strength waxes and wanes.
Fauna & Flora
The natural flora and fauna here are not unlike that of the Freelands, just in greater quantity and quality compared to that of the Freelands. Agriculture however is not exactly a practice here, as Elves due not farm but still live a hunter-gatherer lifestyle. They only take what the need from the land and leave the rest, culturally this extends to how they lived in the Freelands except they made the other races do all the work for them in that sense.
Natural Resources
The resources here are nearly identical to the ones of the Freelands, except in greater quality and quantity here in some instances. Again, farms are not a thing here so it takes some extra work to find what one needs here.
History
Prior to the Great Revolution however there was only one kind of Elf, but due to the purging and excessive use of magic from both sides of the conflict the Elves were underwent permanent physiological changes that has affected for generations. Until the Great Revolution, the Elves held a monopoly on all knowledge and skill on magic and was a race of Wizards only and relied almost excessively on mastering magic and having the other races serve their more physical needs. They knew nothing of how to properly swing a sword, wear armor, or loose an arrow from a bow.
They saw Humankind as threat from the day they saw them cross over from across the Pale, they saw not a migration but an invasion so they attempted to subjugate them and in truth they were successful for a a few centuries. That was until the Highlander King was revealed to be an Aasimar and was gifted with magic, namely white magic, supposedly by the goddess Lady Bellona Albion and subsequently shared the knowledge of magic with his eight Companions and the rest of Humankind and by extension Beastfolk and Dwellers. The Elves lost their major and only advantage over these "lesser" races; for the other races could swing both a blade, cast spells, and outnumbered the Elves a hundred to one. As such the purge was swift and bloody. Human history may paint it as a glorious crusade of righteousness and freedom for not just themselves but all races, but the Elves saw it as genocide and their worst fears come true. Their pointed ears were trophies and their people were put to stakes or worse, it was Inferno on the Material Plane for them.
With the purge underway and no means of defending themselves any more, the Elves had no choice but to flee from the Freelands by any means necessary. Some fled to the Feywild and eventually became the Eladrin we know of today, some fled to the Shadowfell and became the Shadar-Kai, and the rest fled to the largely unihabited island to the northwest of the Freelands... becoming Avalon as we know it today.
Tourism
The concept of toourism is a joke here, Avalon is an isolated state due to their relationship with the Freelands and how tense things are between the two despite it being almost 4000 years since the Great Revolution.
