Stability
Stability is a type of spirit that can be found in certain layers of the Spirit World. It is primarily found in The Spiraling Gate.
Stability has yet to be encountered by the Spiritual Travelers in person, but it has been mentioned twice. Once by Spalsis, The Spiral Hermit and once by Simol, The Hag Empress. It also appears in the book, Following Spalsis.
They appear to have been created by Spalsis as he traveled through the Spiraling Gate.
From "Following Spalsis"
He also mentioned this Stability in person when DAN and Kaswink visited him.
"He (Steve) has grabbed onto a piece of Stability, he is at the eye of a storm, and unless he can overcome that he will be unable to escape without your help."
"The Stability that formed during my journey through that land long ago has begun to disrupt the flow of the Spiral to such an extent that it is invading this land that we are in more and more."
Whether or not this Stability is something that should actually be removed is a conundrum. Spalsis also warned of a great evil known as The Oni when discussing DAN's brother, Spalsis also wants this stability removed from the Spiraling Gate to prevent the Spiral from disrupting this world too much...yet Simol, an alleged "piece of the Oni" as Kaswink said, also wants this Stability removed so that the Spiral can be contained within itself. It is possible that the reason/motivation for containing this Spiral is different for both parties despite the path and end result being the same. Spalsis just wants to save the Spirit World from whatever he thinks is coming as a result of this Stability, but The Oni could want it in one place to better control it and gain its power, as suggested by the Chittering Spirit in some Cursed Knowledge to Kaswink.
Stability was first seen on Daulok 22, 308 while Kaswink was trying to heal Božena.
"As he felt his stability become more cemented within him, he also discovered a new Spirit that was haNging around the spots that he most frequently meditated. This spirit, this Stability , was something Spalsis had not ever seen during his many, many decades within this gate. He found that being near it helped him resist the effects of the Spiral even more, though there was something off about it..."
"While Spalsis normally felt himself pulling free of a spiral to continue his normal path as if breaking the link in a chain, he did not feel this way when meditating near the spirit. It did, indeed, help him feel more stable, but it did so more as a boulder in a river than the true stability Spalsis was looking for. It diverted the path away from a spiral, rather than resolving it naturally, and it felt like it was splitting his path into a new spiral rather than helping him find it himself. It effected his emotions in a way that was similar to the euphoria and depression he was feeling thrust upon him in this Gate. Its offers were lies...though perhaps some other traveler could find use for it in a pinch to escape truly spiraling out of control. Though, with this in mind, Spalsis found himself having to meditate in other places to avoid this spirit, and the more he meDitated and found his own stability, the more this spirit would appear. He left when he felt he truly new and could understand the realm wholly, though, in his own words..."
"Could anYone really understand something so ... intentionally impossible to understand?"

Basic Information
Anatomy
Stability appear to be spirits with four faces and several tendril-like limbs. They are surrounded with a bubble of mist and sand, and their "bodies" seem to be made of a similar material from what Bobcat could tell. They use their tendrils to correct instability.
They make strange, rapid chirping noises while looping to signal...something, mostly just to say that it knows you're talking to it.
