The Spirit of Christmas is a mysterious entity referred to as a type of "
Euphoria Spirit".
Physical Description
It's physical description was revealed to
Namina when she communed with the Hart of Winter.
It was described as a spirit that is mostly an off-pink color with fluid, though pointy, limbs and a distended, greying stomach. It’s limbs can extend in any direction from its body though its head is always situated at the “top” and presenting a beatific smile. The eyes reflect a true happiness which matches the smile, and it is constantly in this gleeful disposition. It’s body is ethereally transparent like a slightly more opaque ghost.
Additionally at its center is a dove gently emitting a white light and holding a ribbon with a bell at either end in its beak. Its head has a crown made of ivy and other holiday plant matter.
Known Abilities
It imposes, rather than suggests, feelings of Generosity, Hope, Euphoria, Trust and other such emotions that are related to the "holiday season". These feelings eventually override any semblance of self as true emotions from the individual person are removed and replaced with pure bliss. A frightening, though appealing, end.
According to Croak, it tends to begin its life in the southern reaches of The Gates and make its way North before reaching its final destination in the Northlands/Mountains where it "hangs out for a time" before dissipating to start again the following year.
Croak voiced his concerns over such things and insisted the Spiritual Travelers fix whatever is causing the Spirit to be stuck in
Tympi's Forest immediately before more harm is done to the surrounding area.
Creatures that are unable to resist the effects of this spirit eventually become what are known as "
The Content". These Content follow the Spirit of Christmas and bring a small town with them called
The Contented Town of Euphoria. It is unclear what happens to these spirits after The Spirit of Christmas dissipates at the end of its journey.
Additionally, this spirit appears to be capable of manipulating reality as the landscape it passes through becomes covered in snow, creatures and other lifeforms are changed into christmassy versions of themselves, and other phenomenon begin to arise.
Recent History
The Spiritual Travelers woke up on Nurend 05, 308 to find that the autumnal morning they were expecting was replaced with a torrent of freezing water and a layer of ice keeping them from their precious air. After surfacing and getting nice and warm they were confronted by Croak who explained that the strange goings-on in the forest is due to The Spirit of Christmas.
Croak explained the spirit's ability to force pleasant emotions upon people and to change the reality around them. Apparently it normally passes through without a problem, but something must have kept it from doing so this year. The Spiritual Travelers were tasked with locating and removing the spirit from the forest by any means necessary, less the spirit overwhelm the environment with forced pleasantness to an irreversible degree.
During their journey towards the spirit, many strange plants and animals were discovered along with a
Winter Hart which confirmed Croak's theory that the spirit was somehow trapped somewhere north of them while on its usual route.
The Spiritual Travelers have most recently found the spirit's home as the town that they discovered at the
Lake's edge was referred to by the spirits there as "The Contented Town of Euphoria", they also explained that "at the center, you will find bliss."
Free to Travel Once Again
The Spiritual Travelers encountered and fought with the Spirit of Christmas. During combat it utilized its Euphoria Spikes in an attempt to share the joy, generosity and other such feelings it can offer with them at the cost of their health. During this encounter it was revealed that it was definitely trapped there by some third party which Agave and Namina both reasoned to be the stumps surrounding the party and the spirit.
The Spirit of Christmas was eventually freed from the
nefarious stumps that trapped it at the shore of the lake. It thanked the spiritual travelers and provided them a
piece of itself before departing.
