The Mist King was released from beneath the ritual circle at the City of Scholars downfall.

The Mist King was released from his prison beneath the ritual circle, and in a moment was able to manifest the mists to him. He manifested in armour with a humanoid form, with cunning in his eyes. He gave direction and purpose to the mists and immediately drove the Free People from the City of Scholars. An alliance of priests within the free people, Issac, Asha and Etsuko tried to hold him back to allow the travelling peoples escape, but the mist walkers were too many and some souls were lost in the conflict.   His emergence immediately made the aggressive mists more dangerous and was an intelligent enemy like no other the Free People had encountered.
