The Church of Andus

The Church of Andus is one of the few, if only, organised mainstream religious organisations in the world. Primarily worshipped in Georite and amongst soldiers and blacksmiths, Andus' church is known to be highly supportive of those who uphold the faith, and utterly dismissive of those who do not.   The churches of Andus prominently feature metal and display it as much as possible. The priests of Andus uphold the tenets of hard work and honourable battle. Every morning and evening, the priests bless those who are going or returning to work, and those going to battle are given the highest blessings. The priests hold a strict policy on homelessness and joblessness. Those who do not have homes or jobs are not blessed and are likely to be extradited by the church.

History

In around 675AS, a small group of blacksmiths began working steel in Georite. Their ability was unrivalled, and when word spread of their deeds, their formally esoteric beliefs became mainstream amongst the craftspeople of Georite, eventually becoming formally recognised as The Church of Andus.

Divine Origins

Worship of Andus began in Georite sometime during the years in which Taranthia ruled there, around 680-720AS.   It did not take long for the church to be established and become highly prominent in Georite in the run up to the Yellow Years (795-809AS), when they became the ruling group in 796AS.

Tenets of Faith

  • Hard work is the path to grace.
  • Battle is the path to honour.
  • Needless pursuit of battle brings ruin.
  • The work of the hand is more devout than the work of the mind.

Allies

After The Yellow Years, the bond between Georite and Taranthia remains strong, especially amongst their ruling factions.

The Church of Andus holds a quiet respect for the independence and toil of the inhabitants of Cryingrock.

The Church of Andus believes that The Fleet asks for too much, and does too little for itself - though it does appreciate the work they have had to put in to get where they are.

The Church of Andus has no need for the mysticism and arcane study of The Order of Magi - though they don't hold that against them
