Unlike most of The Hollow's movers and shakers, Imsai has a pedigree to go with his position; he was genuinely born a nobleman Outside. Such titles mean little in the Hollow, but Imsai's breeding -- along with the understanding of governance originally instilled so he could inherit a duchy -- won him a position in The Royal Court, as Gibralt's bodyguard and counselor.

Imsai's highly-respected position as Gibralt's bodyguard brings them very close; he is rarely far from Gibralt's side. While both Gibralt and Imsai tend to appear cool and unemotional, Imsai's quick wit and skill at conversation endears him to the prince. Still, there's a certain professional distance in their relationship. Perhaps someday that distance will be closed.
