Redehall Castle
The seat of power for The Kingdom of Banteave , home to the royal court and dozens of movers and shakers quietly running the kingdom while Eadvard III wallows in misery and mead.
Alterations
Many kings and queens have reigned in Redehall Castle since its completion, each adding or modifying its design in subtle ways beyond that imagined by Sigvi's architects. Servants passages, fortified chambers for nobles to retreat to in the event of an emergency within the castle, grander battlements and stables, and other ostentatious trappings have been added over the centuries.
Defenses
Redehall Castle is well-defended, with high walls, a full garrison, ballistae, arrow slits and a moat and drawbridge. The Royal Guard are assembled from among the finest, most loyal warriors in the land, and many knights vie for the privilege of serving in the Royal Guard.
History
The first rulers of Banteave, Alaric and his daughter Mair, reigned from a grand longhouse they erected near the village that would one day become Redehall City . Mair's heir, Sigvi Bantevar, saw the need for a more imposing seat of power, and ordered the construction of Redehall Castle in 990. He would not live to see it completed, as he would be slain in battle against the rebelling Untamed Clans just two years later. King Solmi Bantevar, taking up the crown shortly after the accords with the Untamed Clans were signed at The Treaty Hall , continued work on the castle, but it would be Gilas I, first king of the House of Heawick, who would see the castle completed and reign from it for the duration of his 34 years as ruler of Banteave.
