Ezria Ul'Patricia

Lady (Lord / Lady ) Ezria Varida Ul'Patricia

"We blindly jumped into the abyss, so to speak. Despite our initial fears, Lord Al’Ganz made us feel welcome from the very beginning. We’d lived in the Maroon Palace for many long months, yet he asked nothing of us. He was always a gentleman and encouraged us to do as we pleased; to express ourselves through study or creativity; to develop our skills. He even hired some of the best teachers in Ragnarok for us. It was as if we were part of his household family. Everything was provided, and he always fulfilled our needs and whims as best he could."
— Ezria Ul'Patricia, interviewed by Doroma Al'Faunza
Lady Ezria Ul'Patricia is most famously known as one of Ignacio Al'Ganz's Twin Consorts, standing alongside Xelthia Ul'Patricia as a public figure often compared to one of the most reverred and respected Demons in Demon-kind's history, Patricia.

Biography

Born near the shores of Lake Lucif to a mother of an erudite noble house during a rare alignment of the Matron's Hand, Ezria had a tumultuous childhood. Her mother tragically passed from the injuries sustained during childbirth as the Astral Magic her child was infused with during birth had caused the infant's horns to develop too early. Her father, who inherited the house's estate, blamed Ezria for the death of his wife, and Ezria's relationship with her father never truly developed beyond distant, cold, scornful looks.

Solitary, Academic Childhood

Instead, Ezria kept to herself, enjoying her own company and browsing her father's library. She lost her childhood to vast collections of books and tomes, studying the Magical arts and historical accounts of eons gone by. With some curiosity, she experimented with magic in secret and discovered the ease with which she could weave spells. What normally took most magi of the Polymath College years to master, she could demonstrate with but a snap of her fingers. She had discovered the gift of Astral Magic within her blood. With her fiery confidence, she gravitated towards the schools of evocation, preferring to wield the arts of pyromancy.

Bitter Family Relations

A bitter argument with her father erupted during her late adolescence, and in a fit of anger built up from years of silence and resentment from her father's contempt, she unintentionally burned down the manor. This was the final straw, and all the justification her father required to send her away to the College where, in his eyes, they would force her to tame her newfound power.

The Polymath College

For Ezria, the College was a prison of cold, unfeeling, sterilized, scientific rigor and examination. They marveled at her effortless spell-weaving and skill with magical flame, but she has treated as merely just that; a curiosity to be gawked at and prodded. According to the College's most esteemed magi at the time, Ezria was among two of the most skilled early magic users in Ragnarok. Comparisons to that of Patricia before her were frequent, thus she was given the last name, 'Ul'Patricia'.   Curiosity stirred within Ezria, and she eventually discovered Xelthia Al'Patricia who had found herself in similar circumstances. Like Ezria, she too had Astral energies running through her blood. The two bonded and studied at the college for many years, and eventually formed a close bond. With no one to turn to but each other, they spent long nights together, and friendship blossomed into a deep, inseparable love. Together, they bore the brunt of the College's cold academia who studied their magical abilities with little regard for their personage, that is until a year after their adulthood when a wealthy benefactor approached them with a way out.

A New Life

Ignacio Al'Ganz, famed Lord of Ecstasy and leader of the Dominion of Indulgence, spoke to the Polymath College after hearing of Ezria's and Xelthia's plight. Shocked by their treatment, plentiful coins exchanged hands and he granted them a new home at the Maroon Palace where he eagerly provided for their education, safety, shelter, and their continued development on their own terms.   Ignacio became their guardian and they became his wards. His natural, charismatic magnetism eventually bloomed into love, and Ezria and Xelthia became his renowned paramours, more commonly known today as his 'Twin Consorts'.

Today

Today, Ezria still resides with Xelthia and Ignacio, along with a host of other close friends within the Maroon Palace. She and Xelthia are very well protected behind its many walls, wards, and spells. Ezria tends to be seen in public more often than Xelthia, frequently accompanying Lord Ignacio as a diplomatic envoy while meeting with important individuals, or even venturing out into Ambrosia's streets to browse the city's many open markets, though usually accompanied by an escort of nearly a dozen Rosewarden guards at any one time. The most recognizable of her personal escorts is Keema Aul'Tuma, whom she has a close friendship with.

Personality & Hobbies

Most make the mistake of believing Ezria is hot-headed, self-centered, and much too proud of herself; many jealously see her as beautiful, famous, wealthy, talented, and intelligent. Ezria is most certainly confident in herself and generally assertive, but her pained past is a reminder of how lucky she considers herself to be to be able to step into the hooves of the great Patricia. Despite the many expectations weighing upon her and Xelthia's shoulders, Ezria is careful not to let such praise inflate her ego, as such a role as a public figure requires a deep sense of responsibility.

The Pressures of Academia and Professionalism

As a Consort to the Lord of Ecstasy himself, she realizes she must keep the appearance of a strong, confident, commanding figure. While this only fuels false perceptions of her, it also prevents her and House Al'Ganz from perceptions of weakness that lesser, craven, noble houses hungry for power would be all too eager to exploit.   Ezria carries herself with a sense of professionalism and does not easily tolerate blind ignorance or foolishness, for it quickly annoys her. Some misconstrue this as arrogance and elitism. This is not untrue to a small degree; Ezria is not without her own flaws. Despite this, many servants around the Maroon Palace see her as a strict, but fair teacher. Many believe she has acquired this from her own tutor over the years, Eda Ul'Naireem, whom she looks up to.   Ezria is an academic and scholar at heart, spending entire evenings lost in the Maroon Library as she did her father's library in her youth. She is fascinated with history, both recent and ancient, and her eagerness to learn new magic is noted by even Eda as surprising.   Ezria finds pride in knowledge, preferring to practice through theoretical study. Through this, she has spent countless days in the Dominion of Indulgence honing many skills and meeting with the greatest experts in each field of her interest that money can buy, from chefs renowned throughout the continent to its greatest diplomatic and magical minds, such as Eda Ul'Naireem. Her skills in diplomacy are not known by many, as she is not one to boast about her very important role with assisting Ignacio in leading the Dominion and prefers to let Ignacio take credit.

A Taste for the Finer Things

While a mostly private person from her solitary upbringing, her biggest pride and largest exposure to everyday folk are her famous wines, enjoyed by people of all classes, with a small exclusive line of wines for the richest and most powerful of Ragnarok. Her wines are famous for their exquisite palette, balanced and spiced to perfection, and with complex aromas for any and all tastes. Her cheapest wines are even said to rival those of House Al'thanz.   Ezria has a clear taste for finer things, though not out of greed. She is fascinated by the expensive complexities of jewelry, perfumes, oils, clothes, and gourmet foods. Despite a sense of guilt in knowing she can usually obtain all that her heart desires where most can't, Ignacio's many gifts make it difficult to moderate her luxuries. Unlike Xelthia, Ezria spends very little time on creative endeavors, preferring to study or research matters that interest her when not enjoying Xelthia's or Ignacio's presence, be it history or the arcane.
In recent years, Ezria's and Xelthia's skills in magic have excelled. Some would-be rivals to the Lord of Ecstasy himself see this as a long-term power play by Ignacio. Who would dare challenge the most powerful house of the Dominion when its patriarch is the lover of two of its most powerful sorceresses?

"As Ignacio and I have repeated many times, these regulations you are proposing are something we simply cannot allow. Once again, we understand your arguments, and we know how much you would benefit, but you have not convinced us that implementing such constricting regulations to our merchants would not harm their livelihoods. This is the last time we refuse, and you would do well not to push the matter any further."
