Imagine, if you will, that you have invited a friend over for dinner. A pleasant man, and you enjoy his company. There's just one thing that's a little odd. Everywhere he goes, he carries a crossbow. Loaded. Ready to fire. No safety catch. Always on his hip. You've never seen him fire it - you may never even have seen him aim it. But it is still disconcerting, is it not? That is how people see you. The difference being, of course, that you cannot simply leave your weapon at home. You are a weapon.

Ptahmose Heqa-Ma'at is the current Archgaoler  of the Order of Binders. Whilst he's friendly, affable and generally popular, most people would tell you that he makes them ever so slightly uncomfortable - and that when he smiles, they're always surprised to see that his teeth aren't pointed like a predator's.

He is known within The Order of Binders for his unusual practice of taking on two apprentices at once, rather than simply one. His training methods are also known for being somewhat extreme - Though he is somewhat vindicated by having trained some of the most competent and powerful Binders during his tenure, most notably his adopted daughter Hathor Mehet and The Black Jackal.
