Colony 1
First colony established on Planet 237-121 . Eventually overrun by Fungal Disease. Now lifeless but for the robots unable to leave.
This is the setting of "Lonely Chorus".
Colony 1 was the first to be established on the planet, with the goal of paving the way for future inhabitants. It consisted of humans will necessary skills for establishing a fresh colony, and a few robots to lead and coordinate efforts. Its primary mission was to setup power and utilities, begin gathering resources, and begin agricultural efforts. It was established near a river and at the foot of mountain containing valuable ore, to begin creating hydroelectric power and mining materials.
As the first settlement on a freshly colonized planet, the primary mission of the inhabitants was to establish an infrastructure to support itself and future colonies. A greenhouse provides crops to its inhabitants, until large-scale farms can be established. Farming can be a complicated endeavor on planets as trial and error is often required to discover what plants will grow well in the soil.
During "Lonely Chorus", a previously unknown disease erupts in the colony, killing its human residents and warping the ground around it. As deadly diseases are checked for and colonists are given vaccines prior to settlement this is a crisis the small settlement is not prepared to face. Eventually it is reduced to ruins, its robotic inhabitants initiating a quarantine protocol to try to prevent its spread. The second colony, established recently is now left missing some of its support structure and cut off from the rest of the Empire.
Demographics
The humans invited tot he first colony were all skilled laborers who could be counted on to work towards the betterment of the colony. Many left behind families who will join them when the second colony can be established, their families given preferential treatment because their loved ones went ahead on the most dangerous part of the colonizing effort.
Government
As with all such projects, a small contingent of robots came with the colony to lead the efforts.
Infrastructure
The primary infrastructure was constructed form a module delivered to the planet at the same time as the people. It was enough to provide housing for all personnel and work spaces, as well as necessary utilities. As such the infrastructure is bare-bones, and built upon by the colonists as time passed.
Natural Resources
Placed near a river and a mountain. The river provides easy hydroelectric power and the mountain provides ore that can be used to construct buildings and additional tools.
