Fungal Forest
The most dramatic growth of the fungal plague, a growing mass of fungus, covering the ground and growing in spires. The infection started around the first colony, and is slowly increasing in size.
This is where harvesters work, as it is the best place to gather samples of mature fungus without engaging with infected fauna or people.
Ecosystem Cycles
The forest as not existed long enough for scientists to gather sufficient information about any potential cycles the fungus might experience in this form.
Localized Phenomena
Spores are created by most of the forms in the forest, and thus poses an extreme risk of infection. Humans are not allowed to enter the forest without express permission and thoroughly inspected PPE.
Fauna & Flora
Both the local plants and animals have been infected by the fungus, developing growths and producing spores which spread the contagion.
Natural Resources
There's been some theorizing about possible utilities for substances produce by the fungus, but there's been no further research as the overwhelming focus is on finding a counter to the plague.
