The White Wolf Timberland

The White Wolf Timberland is a large and dense boreal forest located between the Valrua Sea and The Snowdrift Flatlands. It receives its names from two parts. The first is the dense forest canopy which creates a thick blanket of snow cover during the winter. From the higher elevations of the Snowdrift Hills or the old Ruins of Whiteridge, the forest looks like a large white blanket with crisscrossing patterns of trees poking out the top. The other part of the name draws upon the a more mysterious, and some suspect nefarious, reason.   Hunters and travelers from across the north have witnessed the mighty Dire Wolves that dot the Frostgale Taiga, make a mysterious pilgrimage to this forest late in their lives. Whether called here by some unknown force or compelled by a god, it seems to be the final resting place for many of the mighty wolves of the north. Some believe it to be good luck to see one of the old wolves on its final journey, a blessing by the old gods upon them.   The western part of the forest is the thinnest and most commonly traveled by humanoids. Those crossing the Valrua sea can find a single beachhead, only one of two on the entire north part of the lake. This beachhead is one of the few ways to safely get north with the eastern pass closed after the earthquakes in the winter of 3516. This beachhead leads north through the Timberland Trail, a trail that while by no means a guaranteed means of safe travel, it is likely one will make it through without must harassment.   The Stormcaller Orcs dwell on its western border in the foothills of the Dragons Teeth Mountains, and consider the forest scared. The Giant Paw clan declared that the great spirits wished them to not take a single tree from its borders, and to this day they must acquire it from more difficult sources. The orcs hunt the Timberlands western borders, but do not venture far into its interior. It is known to the orcs that dangers dwell within that are best left undisturbed. However, it is also the hunting grounds to the sacred wolves that they have an ancestral bond with, and many orcs got on spirit journeys into the woods, returning with strange tales of spectral wolves and mysteries.   What lies within the eastern depths of this vast forest is a mystery that few would dare ponder.
