Maunavā (maʊˈna.vaː)

"All along the path to Maunavā's peak are shrines dedicated to all the gods of the sky and wind, from all around the Great Ring. Many of these I had already seen in my travels, and many others were new to me. As I approached the summit, I saw the largest of these shrines, dedicated to Ta'matu'aku, the king of the sky. It was a built from outward leaning pillars of stone that reached up to the sky like arms trying to embrace the vastness above. The winds around the summit itself were still, in a way that felt respectful somehow, but there was a faint whistling that reminded me of whispers in a crowd. I was very aware that I was not alone on that mountain. - Miyagi Yumeko, in a letter to her son.

Maunavā is the highest point on the island of Motu. It is one of the most sacred places to the Mu'o'a, as it is home to Ta'matu'aku, who rules the sky and all the Aku. The mountain is also the home of the Fono Langi, or Conclave of the Heavens. This is an Eclectic Temple that maintains shrines to sky gods from all across the Great Ring on the mountainside, that the rulers of sky and wind may meet in conclave within the Dream echo of Maunavā.

Notable Spirits

Maunavā is the domain of Ta'matu'aku, lord of all the Aku, and is sacred to the entire pantheon. Its additional role as the Conclave of the Heavens invites the power of all the sky and wind gods of the Great Ring to the mountain. This makes Maunavā one of the most spiritually active locations in the world, with gods present in every nook and cranny. Those who have viewed the mountain in the Dream describe it as a second sun upon the southern horizon of the world.

Geography

Maunavā is an active volcano, and a part of the system that has created the Papa Ahi volcanic plateau. It has three major peaks, surrounding a deep crater that becomes a hot, acidic lake in between eruptions, which occur every twenty to thirty years. Th lake is vaporized during an eruption, sending a plume of white steam that can been seen all over the plateau.
