Session 15 - Gone
General Summary
A fight broke out at the lead wagon. Unknown people had gathered in the tall grass on either side of the caravan and spooked when the shouting and swearing began. Red, Berov and Gorgoroth held for a beat to assess the situation while S'thom leapt into action.
A woman with wild, springy hair and decorated with blue makeup and nail polish backed away from the kids' wagon while Henri Norman | Shifter ISC Recruit grabbed at random tools and swung them in her direction. S'thom got the jump a bald man with similar blue markings and broke his nose with the hilt of her blade. Berov torched the grass at the running woman. Gorgoroth noticed a blue haired gnome horse whisperer who ignored the humanoids.
When they reached the lead wagon, a pile of bodies rolled around in the tall grass, fighting for their lives. Two guards swung their longswords indiscriminately into the scrum. Blue-fingered hands drug someone away from the dogpile and disappeared into the grass. Then it was quiet.
Perle Akbar | Half-Elf Fishmonger wanted to get moving right away but Gorgoroth challenged him. What happened to the fifth guard, Karyn? Why wasn't Perle or the other four guards concerned that she was missing? His lies were written all over his face and Gorgoroth cared for none of it. He convinced Perle to send his guards into the brush to look for Karyn then had a private conversation with the fishmonger.
"You can threaten me all you want," Perle told Gorgoroth, "but there are some I fear much more than you. I was ordered to bring my load to Txanponetan and that's what I'm going to do. Regardless of the consequences." He admitted to have gotten his orders from someone named Preceptor Rodimus in New Frontier.
Gorgoroth told Perle they didn't want to get involved in any Queen Mother bullshit and to stay away.
One of the guards told Perle that Karyn was gone. They quietly packed up and headed down the trail.
That night the other travellers worried over Karyn and tried to convince each other that they should go back and look for her. Instead, the caravan continued down the road another day and stopped in Lasthedge. There, some folks enjoyed feather beds and pillows while the party stuck close to their wagon. At mealtime they met Snakespooked | Minotaur Savannah Ranger and told him of Karyn. He grabbed his gear and left to search for her.
After the fifth day of travel along the Wolf Road, the caravan camped at Big Spirit. While the others slept, Berov encountered friendly spirits of giants. They were interested in the wooden staff-thing the party had found in the basement of the library. The giant ghosts put on a silent game of charades and showed him that they crafted the giant wand years ago to assist the frontierfolk defeat a magical villain.
The caravan entered the Wolfgrass the next day. That night Gorgoroth spotted a shooting star that fell to earth near howling wolves about a mile away. He and Berov investigated but all they found was a 40-ft circle of grass knocked down and a large tuft of gray hair.
On the morning of day 7 just as the wagons started out, the ISC kids' horses roared in terror. Some horrible monstrosity with too many legs and mouths chewed on a horse...
