Session 59 - Confederacy

General Summary

The Party entered the magic cirle with the Ring of Thornes and teleported to Txanponetan in the Golden Savannah. Immediately upon arrival, they found themselves surrounded by guards who pointed their spears and halberds.   The guard captain looked pointedly at Red. “Anunakinephalim, you are under arrest by order of Lady Uanna Dezirinda,” he said. “Danilo Thorne, Rusty Raine, Saul Blume, Linus Codwell and Yen… you are all under arrest as well.”   The remaining adventurers were not arrested, but they were detained until Lady Uanna met with Anuna/Red.   The guards seperated them all. The detainees were taken to a beaurocratic Countinghouse building where they waited quietly.   Red was escorted to Uanna’s luxurious office in Underwriter’s Way district. The tiefling dismissed her staff and spoke privately with the druid. Since their meeting a few weeks ago, Uanna was elevated from homeless waif to Chief Examiner of Txanponetan by her warlock patron, Lady Antilla Antilla.   Antilla had previously searched for Anunakinephalim (AKA Anuna) while in the Feydark, but did not realize that his spirit had been reincarnated in Red. She and Uanna solved the mystery shortly after the Party left for Xak-Tsaroth. Now that Uanna had him, she delivered a message: Anuna and his friends had upset the balance of the Blood Wars when they freed Zariel from her self-enslavement in Avernus. Without the archdevil’s fighting prowess and tactical brilliance, the demons had turned the tides.   Asmodeus is desperate for help in the Blood Wars, and is willing to make a deal with those attempting to resurrect Bahamut. Uanna gave Red / Anuna an offer: she would give the Party the Confederacy, one of the Hexabeyance in exchange for vows to destroy Tiamat and commit some of Bahamuts forces to fight demons in the Blood War.   Red could not yet agree to all of the terms, but did not reject them either. Uanna gave him the last known location of another Hexabeyance, Melora's Horn, on the island continent of It would have to be gathered before the groups reached a formal agreement, as their contract would be binding with the coordinated efforts of all four of the Divine Cordons. She warned Red that General Garuda was also hunting Hexabeyanes and would kill anyone to get them. If they wanted peace, then they need to come to terms quickly. She also agreed to give the Party a dragonlance.   With business concluded, all of the prisoners and detainees were released. They found an out-of-the-way storage facility and cast Rope Trick in which to have a private conversation.   Red filled them in. Ifrit told them that General Garuda is his father, a brutal warlord who started a war with humans and murdered Ifrit’s mother and brother. The Party and the Ring of Thornes agreed to split up to search for the known Hexabeyances.   The Party spotted a plume of black smoke that led them to a strange airship outside the southern city gate. Geezz the goblin furiously worked on the machine while Loudmouth the githyanki stood silently and drooled. They had been hired by a centaur named Polaris Starwatcher, who wanted to go to the top of the Cyclone Citadel to study the “wrongness” of the constellations. Polaris warned them about a growing rift in the space between dimensions where aberrations lived.   Lat’num helped Geezz repair the ship and Polaris happily invited the Party to come along.   On the flight to the Citadel, Gorgoroth tried to communicate with the githyanki mute telepathically but felt an ominous presence. He remembered feeling the same energy a few times before. Each instance had brought a strange falling star which changed those it touched. There were many-mouthed wolves in the savannah grasses. In Nanoen, the minotaur Delli grew into a large monstrosity. Gorgoroth stopped his telepathic reach before anything else horrible happened.   S’thom and Red spotted a massive swirling dustcloud up ahead, a mile wide at the base. Large boulders swirled in the air and crashed into each other. The Blundercoil navigated under the vortex and thrashed with the turbulence. S’thom and Lat’num worked together to secure Loudmouth in his piloting seat and they rose higher in the air. Peeking through the dust clouds high above them were massive islands of rock and stone, slowly turning with the wind.   Small brown specks darted from the islands and spiraled downward between the floating boulders, wrecked airships, barn roofs and other aerial debris. The specks were not carried by the wind—they flew. When they got close enough, the Party saw lion-bodied beasts with reptilian wings and spike-barbed tails.   “Manticores!” Gorgoroth warned.
