Session 75 - Patron

General Summary

The Party discussed their quest with the Collective who shared their goal. All agreed that the Far Realm fissures must be repaired and resurrecting Bahamut was the only known way to do that. As they reviewed the known information of each Hexabeyance, something happened to Ifrit. He felt his patron known only to him as The Fiend, take control of his body.   Ifrit struggled silently to break the connection as his friends openly discussed their plans. He swore at the Fiend but didn’t have the power to resist. The only way was to break their pact, but the pact was for eternity. The only hope he had was another patron. Ifrit prayed to anyone who would listen.   A picture of a sword sprang into his mind. It was adorned with leaves and vines.   “Come to the glade and take my sword. Use it to protect nature and bring balance to the universe. For this, I will buy your pact.”   The disembodied voice didn’t identify itself but it told Ifrit that the sword was called Slash. Ifrit wasn’t keen on becoming a druid, like his friend Red, but he saw no other choice. He reached out with his mind’s eye and grasped the hilt. The connection with the Fiend ended and he felt the passions of a new patron stirring within him. That night as the others rested, Ifrit worked up a sweat learning new katas. Before he earned a sword, the warlock must learn footwork.   The Collective gave the Party some parting gifts and then they were off. In Sigil, they were pleased to find that the Lady of Pain kept her promise. Kylar Bearcharger stated that they wanted to go to his kingdom and they were instantly teleported there.   On Kylar’s throne sat a teenage human boy with dark hair. The boy tinkered with some sort of mechanical device while referring to a pile of books and hand written notes. The Party learned that this was Randus Duthane, about ten years more mature since the last time they’d seen him. Randus was researching the structure of the multiverse and theorized that there were additional Hexabayences in each universe. He’d learned much from his older, future self, whose adventuring party failed to stop the doomsday in his timeline. He now believed that Zeitundraum was better off in Lat’num’s care.   They asked about the Seed of Winter and Sangwyr, the Usurper King. It was possible that he or Cachlain had given or traded the Seed away to other fomorians in the region for their support during the Scales of War. Randus introduced them to his friend Fug, a deformed springling, who knew the Feydark well. Fug, obviously afraid of the fomorians, drew a map to Grotesquid. There they would find Baron “Frosteye” Conand.
