For the party, Seraphina Onyx's name first appeared in Emeline Snowstride's Darktongue journal; soon after, the group learned of her position of Court Wizard of House Vangrim. Information in Nightcrest Academy's archives indicates that she once attended Nightcrest herself, staying in the same dorm room during her first year as Oliver Roche-- the room with (until recently) the strange coffin in the ceiling. Oliver gave her name to Headmaster Odym Idolin when asked about any connections the late Emeline Snowstride might have had, but nothing seemed to come of this follow-up that the party is aware of.
During an expedition in Spring 1088, the party encountered Nadine Onyx and learned that Onyx had two daughters (Nadine and Regina). The former was wandering the ruins of Solaris searching for giant bones. Later that summer, the party battled and killed Regina Onyx in the dragon Ilizinnii's lair.
According to Alistair Ambrose, Onyx is a very powerful (and dangerous) necromancer. She holds a position of power within the secretive Darktongue Cabal, acting in some ways as a leader (or at least attempting to). In a letter from Seraphina Onyx sent to Alistair Ambrose (found by Oliver in Summer 1088), she implied that change was coming and asked for Alistair's support in the coming days. Based on that letter, and Alistair's explanation, it would seem that Onyx has a plan to leverage her station to legalize dark magics in the realms once more. How exactly she plans to do this, and what other schemes she weaves, remain unclear.

Seraphina Onyx has two daughters: Nadine and Regina. Those daughters have a father (according to Nadine), but it is unclear whether this father is Seraphina's partner-- or if he is even alive.
