The Abbot of the Arcane AKA Damien Cloudmourne
Damian Bracken, or Damian Cloudmourne, as is his legal name, is the leader of the
Overseers, the thieves guild that keeps much of
Azar in check. He has, with his influence on the
Azar City Council, managed to practically deputize his guild, working in tandem with the city guard to keep the peace, at least for the wealthy.
Damian keeps his connections to the Cloudmournes a deeply held secret, as while the guild does well, much of its earnings go to keeping it running, and earning the guards' goodwill. In fact, much of the Overseers wealth comes from the Cloudmourne family wealth. They are one of the most influential merchant families, only outspent by
The Citizens. However, if it was discovered that one of its members used its coin for the much hated Overseers, its likely the whole thing would collapse on Damian's head.
Damian is in a precarious position, as he is a peculiar leader. He is hasty, absentminded, spontaneous, preferring to get into trouble, and then talk his way out of it. Because of this, he constantly has dozens of plates spinning at once. Luckily for him, he is quite good at thinking on his feet, aided by his perfect memory, and the wealth of blackmail material he has.

Physical Description
He wears expensive looking jewelry, most of which on closer inspection is much less expensive than it looks. The only exceptions are his paired jeweled bracelets. These are the master devices for his crew leaders' Spies' Murmurs, allowing him instant communication with anyone wearing them. Unbenknownest to them, it also allows him to listen in on them whenever he chooses.
Personality Characteristics
Damian is deeply greedy, wanting to outpace his noble family while constantly relying on them anyway. Deeper down, he desperately wants their approval, but as he is constantly manipulating them along with everyone else, he's unlikely to get it anytime soon.
Social
Damian is constantly arguing, playing devils advocate, saying whatever comes to his mind. He's quick with a comeback, and can take as well as he gives out. He likes to act like he is not above the common folk, but when push comes to shove he will abandon those beneath him to save his own skin, and that of his elite family.
Enemy (Important)
Towards Mirtaruk Boldfury
History
Mirtaruk is the representative of the Citizens to the Azar City Council, and generally doesn't think much of Damian and his Overseers. They take too much control over the city for her liking, and know far too much. In return, Damian had regarded Mirtaruk with an avid curiosity. Recently, however, Mirtaruk outmaneuvered Damian on the council, gaining the allegiance of Kelpip Broadmantle and the City Watch, which Damian has been cultivating for years. He now hates her with a burning passion, even more so as she seems to be one of the few capable of keeping her secrets from him.
Ally (Important)
Towards Kelpip Broadmantle
History
Kelpip and Damian have been allies for many years. Damian claims this is to maintain order in the city, which he technically does, but he views Kelpip with disdain. On the other hand, Kelpip doesn't really care much about Damian specifically, just what he can do for him. When Mirtaruk Boldfury approached him with a better offer, he happily took it, unaware of how much this would enrage Damian.
Lives lavishly, in fact attempting to seem far more wealthy than he actually is to hide how much he has to draw on his family's money.
