The troubled but brilliant Dr. Barbara Livia is a half-drow scientist who took refuge in The Fey Realm at a young age.
At 5 years old, Barbara's parents - Valeria Livia and Jamison Hague were murdered by pirates of The Stormbreakers. Her automaton companion and protector - T.E.D.R.I.C. - took the young Barbara and fled to the Fey Realm to safeguard her. There, she developed her parents' sense of natural curiosity about the world, and also allowed her resentment towards the Stormbreakers to fester.
Being taken on by the Queen of Air and Darkness - the archfey ruler of the Winter Court - she was able to practice and refine her skills, eventually creating the weapon to unleash her retribution upon her parents' killers.
Due to the fickle nature of time in the Fey Realm compared to the material plane, the adult Barbara exists in the Fey Realm at the same time as her child self exists in the material plane, with her weapon - Tedric Lumar - having arrived in the Shattered Realms before her parents were even harmed.
