Lady Durash (a.k.a. The Iron Slayer)
The half-orc woman Durash was born into a poor family of dock workers in Coral Harbour. When she was 5 years old, the forces of The Iron Bastion invaded the islands, claiming them as their own territory. Despite diplomatic attempts from the Admiralty and their allies in the Zephyr Enclave, the islands remained a conquered territory for 20 years, in an occupation known as The Iron Winter.
As one of the few half-orcs in the town, the Iron Winter was particularly harsh for Durash. She lost both of her parents within the first year of the occupation, and was often singled out for physical and emotional torment from the soldiers of the Iron Legion. At 10 years old, mistaking her orcish underbite for a disrespectful sneer, the Bastion overseer Gunderic Redwyrm had her tusks pulled out, giving her a softer, more human jawline.
Wishing to finally see her home freed from opression, Durash secretly gathered a militia of common folk from throughout the town. In a precisely timed strike, the forces of Coral Harbour rose up, with Durash at their head. Salvaging weapons and armour from the occupying soldiers they killed, they pushed further in, eventually putting every Iron Bastion soldier to the sword.
The victory came at a great cost, and many loyal citizens of the town lost their lives, but the people of the coastal islands won their freedom.
In the following days, Durash was summoned before the Admiralty, where she was appointed the title of Lady Durash, first of her noble house. The islands of Coral Harbour were appointed to her family, under the oath that she and her descendants would work for and protect the people of the town, on even their darkest day.
Despite the progressive views of the majority of the Shattered Realms denizens, there still exists a lingering prejudice against half-orcs. As such, Durash is recognised not just as a hero to the Sunken Collective, but an inspirational figure for many of her race.
