The Iron Winter

In 2535, the forces of the Iron Bastion, led by Gunderic Redwyrm in a push to expand their territories, launched a naval invasion of the Sunken Collective town of Coral Harbour. The forces of the local guard - the Tidewatch - were quickly overwhelmed, and the armies of the Bastion moved in and began to fortify their new islands before the Admiralty had even heard word of Coral Harbour's fall.
Unable to retake the town, the Admiralty of the Sunken Collective were forced to cede the territory to the Iron Bastion, and the resulting occupation is now known to history as The Iron Winter, a dark period for the Sunken Collective, and the town of Coral Harbour in particular.
The Iron Bastion's occupation of Coral Harbour was marked by severe oppression and brutality. The dock workers were heavily exploited by the Iron Bastion, being forced to work long hours under harsh conditions with little pay, and any dissent was met with brutal punishment.
There was not a single soul in Coral Harbour who didn't lose close friends and family members to the cruelty of the Iron Bastion. Some were executed for minor infractions, while others died from the harsh working conditions and lack of medical care. The Iron Bastion's soldiers were also known for their ruthless enforcement of laws and arbitrary punishments.
These experiences collectively ignited a fierce determination in certain corners of the populace, and eventually drove a half-orc woman - Durash - to lead her people in revolt, ultimately resulting in the successful liberation of Coral Harbour and the end of The Iron Winter in 2555.

The Conflict

Aftermath

The Sovereign Sky Lord of Aerolithica publicly denounced the actions of the Iron Bastion, and swore that any military actions against another sovereign nation would be met with swift and decisive aerial retalation from Aerolithica and their Skyknights.
The remaining ships of the Iron Legion fleet were piled with the bodies of their soldiers and sailed out a short distance from the docks, before being burned and sunk over a submerged island. In the years to come, it became an aritifical reef teeming with marine life, now known as The Silent Shallows.
