The Devil's Belt
Massive gorge formed after a catastrophic earthquake along the Devil's Mountain Fault.
Geography
The Devil's Belt, a massive gorge that is approximately 322 miles long and 20 miles wide, with an average depth around 1 mile and the deepest sections approaching 2 miles. The eastern border of Edge City is built all the way out to the western rim of the gorge, and some historians cite this as the origin of the city's name.
The Belt is littered with the remains of the towns and cities that fell in during The Great Quakes, most of the rubble submerged under the Columbia River, which now runs along the floor of the Devil's Belt.
There are a number of habitats and observation centers built along the walls of the gorge for scientific research, but most of them have fallen into disuse and been claimed by squatters.
