Akadi’s Forgiveness

Akadi's Forgiveness

Akadi's Forgiveness, previously known as Akadi's Wrath and Akadi's Mercy, is an elemental myrmidon and the former head guardian of the Salt Lake Temple of Akadi.

History

Like most elemental myrmidons, the birth date of Akadi's Forgiveness is unknown. At some point prior to the founding of Salt Lake, Forgiveness, then known as Akadi's Mercy, became the heard guardian of the Salt Lake Temple of Akadi with Ripple-On-The-Surface-Of-The-Water acting as his subordinate. Mercy maintained the temple, creating only simple challenges for pilgrims and visitors to ensure all who wanted could witness the Eyes of Akadi.   In 1488, the Salt Lake Temple of Akadi was visited by Artus Goldfinch, the Baron of Salt Lake. While there, Artus stole one of the Eyes of Akadi. Enraged at the sacred artifact being stolen, Mercy reforged himself into Akadi's Wrath and used the power of the temple he guarded to inflict a drought upon nearby Salt Lake. His subordinate Ripple disagreed with the harsh reaction and tried to stop the drought. Wrath punished her by locking her in a single room, where she attempted to prevent the drought's spread as much as possible.   In 1490, Mariana Goldfinch, the daughter of Artus and unaware of his crime, went to the Temple of Akadi to try and end the now two year-long drought. She was accompanied by her cousin Gabriel. They were both confronted by Wrath, who permanently crippled Gabriel's leg and horrifically scarred Mariana. He did not kill them, however, his hand being stayed by either Ripple or Akadi herself.   The drought Wrath created contributed to the 1492 Salt Lake peasant revolt, better known as the Siege of Salt Lake. The Breadwinners, including Mariana Goldfinch, discovered Artus's crime and the Eye of Akadi while attempting to deescalate the situation. The adventurers marched to the Temple of Akadi to return the eye and had to go through a guantlet of challenges Wrath created. Ultimately, with Ripple's aid, the Breadwinners returned the Eye of Akadi and defeated Wrath, forcing him into a catatonic state and making Ripple-On-The-Surface-Of-The-Water the new head guardian.   Following the Siege of Salt Lake, the former head guardian would reforge himself again into Akadi's Forgiveness, understanding the mistakes that he had made. Forgiveness now serves Ripple as her subordinate.

Personal Characteristics

Like all elemental myrmidons, Forgiveness has free will and leeway to interpret Akadi's wishes, but there are certain rules he cannot break. As a guardian to the Salt Lake Temple of Akadi, Forgiveness must always make the trials he creates solvable, even if they are difficult, to ensure that the Eyes of Akadi are not forever hidden away. This ultimately is what stopped Forgiveness when he was Akadi's Wrath, because he could not fully close off the temple and stew in his anger.   Forgiveness has also repeatedly changed their personal understanding of Akadi's will, a trait common in fickle air elementals, embodying her Mercy, Wrath, Forgiveness, and many others.
