Ripple-On-The-Surface-Of-The-Water, most often shortened to simply Ripple, is a water nymph the current head guardian of the Salt Lake Temple of Akadi.
History
At some point before 1488, Ripple-On-The-Surface-Of-The-Water discovered the Salt Lake Temple of Akadi while exploring the Elemental Plane of Air. Enamored with it, Ripple began the process of becoming the temple's subguardian, mentored by Akadi’s Mercy. After extensive training and time, Ripple was officially made a guardian of the temple. In 1488, Ripple was subguardian of the Temple of Akadi when Artus Goldfinch, Baron of Salt Lake, entered the temple and stole one of the Eyes of Akadi. Enraged, Mercy reforged himself into Akadi's Wrath, inflicting a terrible drought on nearby Salt Lake. Ripple attempted to curb the rage of her superior and friend, but was punished by being trapped in a small room. From there, Ripple did what she could to lessen the drought's impact. In 1490, Ripple might have been responsible for preventing Wrath from killing Mariana and Gabriel Goldfinch during their ill-fated attempt to reverse the drought. In 1492, Wrath's drought served as one of the contributing factors in the Siege of Salt Lake peasant revolt. While attempting to mediate the conflict, the Breadwinners, including Mariana Goldfinch, discovered Artus's crime and the missing Eye of Akadi. The adventurers brought the Eye to the Salt Lake Temple of Akadi to return it, but had to face down a gauntlet of Wrath's challenges. Shortly before their confrontation with Wrath, Ripple provided the Breadwinners, with magical items to help defeat him, asking that the party spare her friends life. They agreed, and following Wrath's defeat, Ripple became the new head guardian and promptly ended the drought. In the years since the Siege of Salt Lake, Ripple has continued to hold the title of head guardian and has relaxed the trials and challenges required to view the Eyes of Akadi and the Elemental Plane of Air. Wrath, now reforged into Akadi’s Forgiveness, serves under her and guards the Eyes personally.
