Ardula

Priestess Ardula

Ardula was a drow priestess of Llolth that was kidnapped and held aboard the Emperor of the Waves before escaping following the ships near destruction at the hands of a kraken. She was killed when the kraken returned and sunk the ship after she was knocked unconscious in a fight with the Heroes of Saltmarsh.

History

At some point prior to mid-1496, Ardula was captured by Pearce, the apprentice of the wizard Keledek, and held onboard the Emperor of the Waves, with the intention of being one of many humanoids to be experimented on. However, her turn never came, as Pearce was instructed by his master to uncover the source of strange happenings occurring along the Sword Coast.
Pearce's investigation led him to discover the existence of the Banesmark in the Styes, but the young apprentice was attacked by the aboleth S'gothgah and his young kraken. The Emperor of the Waves escaped into the Ethereal Plane, but the destruction caused to the ship allowed Ardula to escape. Using magic given to her by Llolth, the priestess began converting the surviving captives into spider-like abominations. However, upon reemerging onto the Material Plane, the ship proved to be far too damaged to steer.
On the 8th of Eleasis, 1496, the Heroes of Saltmarsh arrived on the derelict vehicle on orders from Keledek, to find out what happened. While investigating, the Heroes fought Ardula, who seemed to be driven mad by her experience, knocking her unconscious. However, the ship was soon beset again by the kraken, who was ordered by S'gothgah to destroy it for good. The Heroes barely managed to escape, leaving Ardula to drown in the waves.
