Pearce was an apprentice of
Keledek, who came under the wizard's employ sometime after his previous apprentice,
Gideon Mistmoor, had left.
History
Sometime before 1496, Pearce was instructed by
Keledek to station himself on the wizard's personal ship,
the Emperor of the Waves to perform a variety of magical experiments. This included the kidnapping of a variety of people to experiment on, including the
drow woman
Ardula.
In 1496, Pearce was instructed by his master to investigate the strange happenings that had been occurring along the
northern Sword Coast the past couple of years. Pearce's investigation brought him to
the Styes, where he discovered the existence of the
Banesmark. However, during his escape from the city, Pearce was subjected to
S'gothgah's mental commands and the
Emperor of the Waves was attacked by the
aboleth's kraken. Pearce managed to send the ship into the Ethereal Plane to escape, though the ship was badly damaged, freeing
Ardula, who started transforming much of the crew into spider abominations.
Wounded and fearing being dominated by the
aboleth, Pearce recorded a final message and placed a drawing of the
Banesmark into a lead-lined silver box, which was retrieved by the
Heroes of Saltmarsh following the ships reemergence from the Ethereal Plane.
