Gaelin Dragonmoor is a
half-elf member of the
Emerald Enclave.
History
In 1496, Gaelin was dispatched by the Emerald Enclave to investigate the
hill giants of
Grudd Haug who were acting erratically. The Enclave was particularly worried about the giants' behavior due to
Chief Guh's possession of a
Conch of Teleportation.
When Gaelin arrived to entreat with the hill giants, she was instead taken captive at the order of
Bo Latarn, Chief Guh's advisor. She was then tortured for what information the Enclave had on the
Banesmark and branded with half of a Banesmark, though the full process was interupted by the arrival of the
Heroes of Saltmarsh in Elient of that year. The Heroes drove off the giants and Bo Latarn and rescued Gaelin, though they kept her bound and blindfolded at her suggestion, as Gaelin could feel a voice in her mind urging her to kill them.
Unsure of what to do with Gaelin but aware that she was mentally hurt, the Heroes turned her over to the care of
Davver Longbeard, a retired member of the Enclave who lived in
Saltmarsh. Davver was able to soothe Gaelin's mind and keep her presence from being detected by the
Aboleth S'gothgah, who was using the Banesmark to control individuals across the Sword Coast to sow chaos.
Later that year, as the Heroes learned about the mind controlling effects of the Banesmark and needed a way to discover the aboleth's plans, Gaelin was able to provide simple yes and no responses to their questions, using her incomplete link to S'gothgah provided by the Banesmark. Gaelin was able to do so by gesturing to the flowers she was gardening, which was subtle enough that it was believed S'gothgah would not detect her thoughts or actions or realize what the Heroes were doing.
Following the end of the
Banesmark Crisis, the
Blackstaves of
Waterdeep arrived in Saltmarsh to magically remove any Banesmark-afflicted individuals in the town, including Gaelin.
