Gardens, Elturel

The Gardens is a section of Elturel's High District that runs the length of the district's bluff.

Alterations

Following the Reign of Vampires, the gardens were altered to include statues of every High Observer. The statue of Naja Bellandi stood on Maiden's Leap, at the site where she leapt off during the Night of the Red Coup. Cathasach Restat's statue was found in the garden's midpoint. Thavius Kreeg's statue was placed on a rocky outcropping in the middle of the spring from which the stream that flows through the garden originates.
Following the Damnation of Elturel in the late 15th century, the High Observers of the city were reevaluated harshly: Bellandi for her pact with Zariel, Restat for his inability to stop the cult of Zariel's spread, and Kreeg for his role leading the cult of Zariel. Because of this, all three statues of the High Observers were torn dorn following Elturel's salvation in 1498.

Architecture

The Gardens run the entire length of the bluff. Its design emphasizes dark-leafed bowers; a touch of the natural in the heart of the city. At night, the soft glimmer of glow-lilies that curl liana-like around the tree-trunks filled the Gardens. A stream erupted from the cliff-face beneath the High Hall, sending a bubbling brook down the middle of the Gardens to eventually plunge over Enki's Rest.
