Elturian Maze

The Maze is a large subterranean labyrinth that spans most of the Elturel.
Originally, the Maze was mostly confined to the bluff the High Hall was built on top of, but over the centuries has grown to encompass most of the city. Most of the natural caverns that form the Maze have never been fully mapped, with some believing that they could even connect to the Underdark.
Following the Damnation of Elturel, much of the Maze was flooded, either by the Chionthar River or the River Styx. Additionally, the earthquakes that plagued Elturel while in Avernus collapsed many tunnels in the Maze, and when the city was returned to the Material Plane, it did so ever so slightly askew from its original position, causing many tunnels in the deeper areas of the Maze to no longer perfectly align. These cumulative effects have made navigating the Maze more treacherous than ever.
The Maze contains:

• Warehouses, both for private storage and as emergency food stores
• Armories, some of them secret
• The Dungeon of the Inquisitor, Elturel's prison
• Mines, most of which are worked by prisoners of the dungeon
• Behemoth's Run, a portion of the Maze under the Docks that appear to have been carved out by a large creature
• Smugglers dens
