Isaac Kotter

Isaac Kotter

Isaac Kotter is a former member of the Plowshare Militia and the husband of Gabriel Goldfinch.

History

Isaac was a born to tenant farmers in Salt Lake, under the Goldfinch family. As he came of age, he began working alongside his parents in the fields. During the drought, between 1488 and 1492, Isaac began to become radicalized against the ideas of nobility controlled land ownership. This culminated in early Hammer of 1492, when Isaac joined the Plowshare Militia and prepared to rise up against Baron Artus Goldfinch.   Baron Goldfinch's persistent illness eventually gave the Plowshare Militia the weakness they were looking for, and Isaac helped them seize Salt Lake. As the Plowshare Militia began recruiting from nearby estates and the nobility of Amphail started growing wary, Gabriel Goldfinch, nephew to Artus was allowed more freedom than his aunt and uncle to negotiate with the nobles who wouldn't hear from peasantry. Isaac was assigned as one of Gabriel's guards.   Over the course of the Siege of Salt Lake, Gabriel and Isaac developed a close friendship through their nightly talks. This friendship slowly grew into slight flirtation, though both knew that they were ideologically opposed in many ways.   Near the end of the Siege of Salt Lake, the Breadwinners, including Artus Goldfinch's daughter Mariana in disguise, arrived to help mediate the conflict. They were taken to Gabriel and knocked Isaac unconscious to talk to him directly. Isaac later joined the 14 members of the Plowshare Militia who escorted the Breadwinners and Gabriel to the Salt Lake Temple of Akadi to return the Eye of Akadi. This group was joined in turn by 14 member's of Amphail's army.   During the negotiations that ended the Siege of Salt Lake, Isaac expressed betrayal towards Gabriel when he learned that he'd be ruling Salt Lake in Mariana's stead. Despite this, the two of them eventually reconciled and made their relationship formal.   In 1494, Isaac and Gabriel married one another in Salt Lake, both agreeing to not change their family names. Though he doesn't have any direct say in Salt Lake's governance, he does often challenge his husband when he feels he's gone astray.

Social

Family Ties

Isaac and his husband Gabriel often find themselves having vehement political discussions about the governance of Salt Lake, Isaac often speaking up for the local peasantry and Gabriel reminding Isaac about the importance of maintaining outside perceptions. Despite this, the two love each other dearly and respect each other's opinion.   Isaac is not particularly close to his sister-in-law, Mariana, though he is thankful to her for both her role in ending the Siege of Salt Lake and consistently sending funds back to Salt Lake to improve the settlement.
