Keyleth

Keyleth, known as Stealthy Hunter, the Elder of the Hunt and Homeless at various points in her life, is a firbolg archer that briefly adventured with the group that became the Heroes of Saltmarsh in the summer of 1496.

History

Keyleth was born in the all-firbolg Redwood Forest Tribe in 1451. Noted from an early age for her exceptional hunting abilities, she was given the name Stealthy Hunter by her people, and later was chosen to become one of her tribe's leaders in 1494, the Elder of the Hunt, which from then on became her new name.
The Redwood Forest Tribe was suffering a drought during this time, and during one extended hunting trip a wildfire ripped through the tribe's encampment, destroying what little food stores were left. Seeking a victim, the Elder of Forage convinced the other elders that this poor omen is a result of the Elder of the Hunt's recent promotion, and their poor judgement is leaving the camp alone for so long contributed to their terrible losses. The Highest Elder agreed, attempting to keep control in a desperate situation, and the Elder of the Hunt was stripped of her title and banished, now going by Homeless.
Unsure of where to go, Homeless encountered the druid Davver Longbeard in 1495 outside of Saltmarsh, who befriended the lost and confused firbolg. Homeless used her firbolg abilities to disguise herself as a human, who Davver introduced to people as Keyleth. Keyleth then secured a job gutting fish in the local fishmongers.
In the summer of 1496, Keyleth was contacted by Crab, the front-man for many of Saltmarsh's smuggling operations, offering her an easy job for extra cash. Keyleth tentatively agreed and joined the others Crab had hired to investigate the Haunted Mansion of Saltmarsh, where they found a rival smuggling operation. Keyleth and the other killed the rival smuggler, but discovered that they were shipping weapons from the Styes to a tribe of lizardfolk south of Saltmarsh. The Saltmarsh Town Council asked Keyleth and the others to investigate the lizardfolk to make sure they didn't pose a threat to the town.
After confirming that the lizardfolk meant Saltmarsh no ill will, the group Keyleth was in was contacted by the town wizard Keledek to investigate his recently reappeared derelict ship, the Emperor of the Waves. However, Keyleth, feeling that she was getting in far too deep into a problem that did not affect her, declined Keledek's offer, and she packed her things and left town, now hoping to return to her tribe and set the record straight.
