Kingdom of Many-Arrows

The Kingdom of Many-Arrows, often abbreviated to simply Many-Arrows, is an orc kingdom founded by Obould Many-Arrows in 1371 DR and recognized as a sovereign realm by several of the Silver Marches signatories the following year. It's current king is Lorgru I.

Culture

The Kingdom of Many-Arrows has always suffered from internal conflicts, between traditionalists, who believe the strength of orcs derives from their tribal raiding traditions, and modernists, who believe that Many-Arrows can prosper only if its citizens adopt the modern practices used by the rest of the Sword Coast. The kingdom's history can be divided into eras where one side was more dominant than the other, and the changing of eras was often brought about by violent conflict, whether internal or external.

History

The Kingdom of Many-Arrows was declared a sovereign nation by King Obould I in 1371. This declaration came after years of conflict and expansion, mostly against the forces of the Silver Marches. In 1372, the majority of the Silver Marches were forced to recognize Many-Arrows as a legitimate kingdom as part of their original peace deal.   Over the years, the orc's have fought many wars with their neighbors.   From 1434 to 1437, the Kingdom of Many Arrows allied itself with a group of drow and fought the Silver Marches in the Many Moons War. The war was costly. The most significant victory for the orcs was the capture of Nettlemurk Hall in 1436, after its defenses had already been weakened from a raid by the black dragon Voaraghammanthar. In 1437, both sides agreed to a peace treaty, though the orcs could keep Nettlemurk Hall, much to the chagrin of the stronghold's former ruler, Baramir Velgrund.   In 1451, following the eruption of Mount Hotenow destruction of much of Neverwinter, raiding bands of orcs invaded the northern districts of Neverwinter. Though Dagult Neverember would eventually convince Many-Arrows to leave in the 1470's, many of the orcs that had settled in the city remained, forming a significant minority.   In 1488, Many-Arrows once again fought their old rival, the Silver Marches, under King Obould XVII. The was ultimately proved inconclusive, but Obould refused to surrender. It wasn't until Obould's assassination in 1491, and the subsequent ascension of King Lorgru I, that the two sides were able to sign a treaty.
