Nettlemurk Hall

Nettlemurk Hall is the ancesteral home of the dwarven Clan Velgrund that was conquered by splinter group of orcs from the Kingdom of Many-Arrows between 1436 and 1547. During the time of orcish occupation, Nettlemurk Hall was known as Gra Krazdagh, which translates to Common as Swampsbane Hold.

History

For centuries, Nettlemurk Hall stood as the homeland of Clan Velgrund, a moderately sized clan, numbering around 3000 at the clan's height in the early 1400s.   Near the beginning of the 15th century, the artificer Riswyn Thunderbane discovered an extremley powerly and ancient dwarven soul trap that she named the God Trap, in reference to its overwhelming capacity. However, the research into the God Trap grew the attention of the black dragon Voaraghammanthar, who desired the artifact. Voaraghammanthar nested in the mountains around the clan stronghold, slowly turning the land more swampish, until the defences and structure of Nettlemurk Hall was compromised, allowing the dragon to storm inside and steal the God Trap in Hammer of 1436, killing numeorus dwarves along the way, including Riswyn.   Though Voaraghamanthar returned to his traditional resting ground in the Mere of Dead Men, a splinter faction of orcs from the Kingdom of Many-Arrows heard about the clan's weakness and moved south to exploit it, conquering Nettlemurk Hall in Elient of 1436, slaughtering most of its inhabitants.   The survivors of Clan Velgrund fled for their lives, first taking sanctuary in a variety of dwarven strongholds before making an exiled home for themselves in the Burrows of Neverwinter in 1452. Meanwhile, the orcish conquerers of the stronghold renamed Nettlemurk Hall to Gra Krazdagh   For nearly a century, Gra Krazdagh remained in orcish hands, and multiple generations were born and died in its halls.   In 1547, Clan Velgrund returned to its ancesteral home, alongside a variety of allies, and laid seige to the stronghold, ultimately returning it to dwarven hands after the orc tribe's chief, Bhodgav the Venomous, was slain by the Heroes of Saltmarsh, which included the chief artificer and advisor of the clan, Mogran Oredelver.
