Xanhorn Mistmore is a
halfling historian of
Elturel and one of the older brothers of
Xifira Mistmore, one of the
Lost Star Detectives who lost her life while attempting to end the
Damnation of Elturel.
History
Xanhorn was born in Elturel to Xanleigh and
Janfire Mistmore, a prominent figure in the
Order of the Companion in 1440, the fourth of seven children. Unlike his older brother Xodal, who settled down in a traditional family, or brothers Xoric and Xanric, that joined the
Hellriders and
Order of the Companion respectively, Xanhorn was instead called to Elturel's rich history. This led Xanhorn to pursue the path of Lore Bard, and he spent many days and weeks at the
Elturel Library just down the way from the Mistmore Manor where he lived.
During the
Damnation of Elturel in 1497, Janfire Mistmore, who by now was the leader of the Order of the Companion, revealed himself to be a
Zarielite cultist. AS he led the
Hell Knights in a conquest of Elturel, he also sought after his children to kill them and raise them in to devils. Luckily, Xanhorn was at the library during Elturel's damnation, and spent the early days of the crisis doing his best to protect its books and the elderly librarian
Theodard Silverstring. Eventually, the two were forced to lock themselves in the head librarian's office when a mob of Zarielites burst into the library to gather as many books as possible to burn.
Xanhorn and Theodard were rescued by the
Lost Star Detectives, which included Xanhorn's younger sister Xifira. After gathering up as many books as they could for safekeeping, Xanhorn and Theodard were moved to
High Hall for their protection, where they waited out the rest of the crisis.
Following Elturel's salvation in 1498, Xanhorn committed himself to memoralizing the story of the Lost Star Detectives and the perserverance of the Elturian people, paying special note to his sister, who had been killed by their father during the
Siege of Helm's Shieldhall.
