Settlements in the Netherlands
Typical Settlements in the former Netherlands come in three forms. Hamlets are small places that tend not to have proper fortifications, so they mostly depend on staying hidden for safety. Terps are fortified settlements that are built to resist the water. And Strongholds are large fortified towns and former cities, which still hold significant amounts of technology.
For settlements, four profession types are crucial. Farmers supply food, Soldiers fend off Raiders, Collectors gather technological supplies, and lastly Scouts find threats before they find the settlement. A settlement that lacks one will face great difficulties surviving.
While Wastes were originally settlements, their hostile environment means they are not suitable for long-term living. As such, they are not classified as settlements.
