Elders of the Universe
The origins of the Elders of the Universe are lost to time. They are some of the oldest living beings in the universe. Each of the Elders is the last survivor of their respective species, most of which evolved in the very earliest years after the Big Bang. Through various means, each of the Elders attained immortality, allowing them to far outlive the rest of their kind.
Obliterator has claimed that he is 5.5 billion years old, and that the other Elders are about the same age. Many of them have not only outlived their respective races, they have also outlived their original galaxies. As the relatively few survivors of the earliest period of universal history, the Elders regard themselves figuratively as siblings, though they do not often associate with each other aside from when forced to by the Grandmaster's schemes.
Some of the Elders of the Universe have children, who are of mixed species heritage. Although younger, in some cases milenia younger, than their parents, they are commonly accounted among the Elders due to having inherited their parents immortality.

It is believed there may be thousands more, but records are kept only by the Elders themselves, and so any Elders who live quietly and do not draw attention to themselves are unlikely to be known to the wider intergalactic community.

In order to avoid being driven to end their lives out of boredom or depression, the majority of the Elders have developed specific obsessions which give their lives meaning, and they are generally known by a title related to this obsession. For example, Ord Zyonz is commonly known as the Gardener, due to his fixation on gardening and plant cultivation.
