Hell's Kitchen

Hell's Kitchen is a neighbourhood on the West Side of Midtown Manhattan. It is usually defined as the area between 34th Street, 59th Street, Eight Avenue, and the Hudson. It has historically been a poor working class neighbourhood although since the 1980s, rents have been rising rapidly.

It was predominently Irish American for decades, but has undergone a number of demographic shifts, and in addition to the historic Irish American population, the area is also home to a high number of Hispanic Americans, and a large LGBTQ community.

Steve Rogers was born in Hell's Kitchen, although he moved to Brooklyn as a child.

The area has its own superhero, the Devil of Hell's Kitchen.
