Wolf
Wolves are a group of non-domesticated canines native to Eurasia and North America. More than 30 subspecies of wolf have been identified.
They live in large family groups, and hunt cooperatively. They are territorial, and disputes over territory between packs is one of the most common causes of death among wild wolves. Wolves are carnivores, primarily hunting large herbivores such as deer and elk, although they do also hunt smaller game and livestock, and will eat carrior.
In early human history, humans domesticated wolves, and they are the ancestor of the modern Dog.
During their excursions to Earth, the Aesir encountered wolves, and took some as pets. These wolves, enhanced by the high background magic on Asgard grew to enormous size. The Fenris Wolf was a decendant of these ancient Asgardian Wolves. After the Conquest of the Nine Realms, the tradition of keeping Midgardian animals as pets fell out of fashion.
