Yaka Arrows

Yaka Arrows are weapons used by the Centaurians.

They are made of yaka, a mineral found only on Centauri IV which is sacred to Centaurian religion.

The arrows are controlled using high-pitched whistle commands. The exact mechanism is unknown, but Akuun who have had their Tahlei removed are unable to use Yaka Arrows. Some former Akuun slaves who were able to get free, such as Yondu Udonta, use psionic implants to control the Arrows, since they are an important part of Centauri culture.

With access to the psionic implants, a non-Centauri could theoretically use a Yaka Arrow, although those who do not speak Centauri (or another whistle-based language) would likely struggle with the nuance of the whistle commands. However, due to their importance to Centauri culture it is almost unhead of for a non-Centaurian to own one. Kraglin Obfonteri is the only known non-Centaurian to have owned one.
