After several months of deliberations, the decision is made to brainwash Carol Danvers and attempt to use her powers in service of the Kree Empire.
They therefore awaken her from cryostatis, and use modified Skrullian mind-viewers to alter her mind, removing all memories of her life before the assassination of Mar-Vell, and editting that memory to removed Mar-Vell's name, and replacing the location and killer with a remote outpost of the Empire, and a Warskrull.
