Personal history

Born Lily Khethiwe Mkhwemte, in 2940 to a New Zealander mother and an Xhosan father, or Kit after her paternal grandmother, in the busy colony of Praetoria.   By the age of 3, she had moved with her parents to the war-torn Wellington Colony, in the New Zealand sector. There they worked as administrators for the dispersed and broken government.   Whilst growing up in the colony, Kit watched as the engineers rebuilt the major infrastructure on Wellington, in the wake of the end of the war with the Tarquin in that sector. Because of her innate love of maths and construction, as well as the fact that building bridges with Lego was and is her favourite hobby; she decided very early to become a civil engineer. So, aged 19 she became part of the first wave of students at the newly reconstituted University of Wellington, studying civil engineering. As soon as she graduated, she joined a local engineering firm, staying there for 4 years as the junior engineer on site, for three major bridges and a hydroelectric dam in the Wellington solar system.   Growing bored of her job, and not yet in a stable relationship, she decided to join up as an Officer in the reserves. This went staggeringly well, allowing her action and adventure but still keeping her engineering job, until the point when they wanted her to be one of the operations staff officers for the regular royal engineers. This was due to her experience both in the civilian world, she had been promoted to a senior partner of the firm because of her ability to finish projects on time and on budget, but also her cool-headedness under fire was noted during her six-month tour of duty to the close-by Singapore Salient.   This career change was meant to be temporary but as she was promoted to the OC of a company of a completely different regiment she realised that this was her career now. Whilst under her command that company was attached to the QOARC and was responsible for the creation of the safe houses and other vital equipment used by the teams whilst in the field. It was during this time that she fell deeply in love with the QOARC's S-4 Major Keith Reed, coincidentally another New Zealander, and they got married after 2 years of dating. It wasn't long after this that their son Adriaan was born. Keith decided to retire from the army and became an MP's administrator as to look after their son Adriaan, Kit herself became the S-3 of the 2nd battalion, 42nd regiment, Royal Engineers, which gave her operational control over the rebuilding of revolution-torn sectors.   After becoming the adjutant of the battalion, Kit was shortlisted by Macgregor for the 2iC, 3rd battalion role, mostly because of her geniality, intelligence, operational experience and preformed relationship with the senior staff of the new regiment. Macgregor was playing a long con on Lieutenant-Colonel Kerry Pieterson, knowing that she was likely to choose Lily. Luckily she said yes.
