Alcippe

Alcippe is a harsh world in the Otierus System. The air of the planet is breathable without equipment for approximately 3 days, but lingering toxicity in the air begins to cause serious complications with breathing after that point. This has caused the minimal population of the planet to take to wearing specific breathing respirators that constantly filter out the toxicity of the planet's atmosphere. The world is covered in mountainous ranges with few patches of land that have been carefully terraformed. The planet was plagued by failed colonization attempts after its discovery, and even more-so after the discovery of Gold and Uranium buried within the mountain ranges.

Local Government

The local governing parties, as of last contact, appear to be a handful of self-proclaimed "Gold Barons" who claimed riches, formed militias, and have formed their own city-state like colonies within the mountains of Alcippe. It is not known to be friendly to visitors and Core government recommend citizens stay clear of the world.

History

The planet was plagued with multiple failed colonization attempts. Several ships, in an eager rush to get to the world promising wealth and prosperity, raced towards the world with new, untested technology to be the first to stake claims. Of the initial 5 ships setting out from the Human Colonies, only 2 ships successfully arrived at their destination. 2 were said to have gone missing and listed as Destroyed with all Personnel, while the third met with immediate engine failure (believed at the time to be sabotage) and was forced to turn back soon after departure. The final two colonies were met with strive, hostile fauna, and sickness. The survivors met with profit from their scavenging of planetary resources after merging their two colonies into one faction. During the War of Colonization, the Krasian Meritocracy attempted to institute a research facility on the planet. The facility quickly fell dark and is believed lost by authorities. After the War of Colonization, Allied Terran Systems attempted to open trade with the surviving locals of Alcippe. The sub-orbital trading outpost met with mechanical complications and was forced to ground soon after. Authorities determined the cost of maintenance and repair to provide no ROI and scrapped the attempt.
