The Buccheri Family

The Buccheri Family has made a name for themselves in the Rim, the Allied Terran Systems, and in a smaller way the Krasian Meritocracy.   They operate like an old-Earth Mafiaso family in both their values, products, structure, and often even attire.

Structure

  • The Don is the Leader of the family. He is the final say.
  • The Uncles are the direct reports of the Don. They are not all currently blood related.
  • The Sons are typically the leaders of specific regions and clusters of Organizations
  • Bosses are the local planetary (or city) leadership
  • Cousin is the typical descriptor for the long-term, lower level operative
  • Mook is the most commonly heard reference to the lowest level operative of the Buccheri

Culture

They operate with the ideals that they are all one family. Honor amongst the family is considered mandatory, but while each member is expected to maintain the appearance of honor in dealing with outsiders, they all understand that in the end it is always Family First.

Public Agenda

They do not attempt to deny what they really are, but typically they are treated as a Trade Consortium by anyone on their take trying to explain their involvement with the Buccheri to their superiors.

Assets

They are currently in possession of a fleet of ships and multiple Rim world cities host a Buccheri presence as both planetary protection and a trade hub. As long as the Buccheri get their cut, trade tends to prosper under them.

Above all, Family First

Obvious Criminal Connections

While the official ATS stance on the Buccheri is that they are a known criminal entity, the extremely low number of arrests and active Buccheri presence in Terran Space suggests that a lot of money has exchanged hands with a lot of very high up authorities.

Non-Aggression

The Buccheri tend to leave FreeST mining colonies alone these days while FreeST finds that their outposts seem to operate better when the Buccheri in the same system are happy.

Tense Trade

The ideals of Krasia and the Buccheri clash, but they enjoyed decades of suitable trade. Recently, Krasia has been expanding into Buccheri territory in the Rim and tensions have heightened drastically.

Aggression

The Buccheri family has attempted to breach the Bound Borders in the past. The ensuring battles between them and the Gavels have left a bad enough taste that the attempt was never tried again.

Open Hostilities

The Buccheri family seems to think the Syndicate is nothing but dishonorable thugs.
The Syndicate views the Buccheri’s as self-righteous posers.
