Commodities in the Veil

Nothing is wasted in the Veil.   Commodities in this world are separated into three classes:

Class 1 Goods

Class 1 commodities are those that can be obtained or made within the Veil with relative ease. Farming in the Veil almost solely consists of arable agriculture since animal husbandry isn't as space efficient. Common foods are anything based on simple crops and grains, breads, rice (in the Wet Season), soups, stews etc. Meat is still fairly standard in the diet of commoners, however this largely consists of whatever can be easily found including dead rodents and wild animals from hunting in areas of woodland.   Items of simple construction such as timber from the Veil's forests, stone from quarries or metal from the mines of Gerdt also fall into this category.

Class 2 Goods

Class 2 goods are commodities that can be produced in the Veil but with difficulty or inefficiency. Food-wise this includes steak, pork, chicken etc - meats that require land use. This class also includes most fruit since it generally requires more care and attention to grow. While the wealthy may be able to treat themselves to a Class 2 commodity on occasion, this class of goods is almost entirely out of reach of the common folk. During times of exceptional drought, water may be forced into this class.   Precious gems, magic items, ornate weapons and jewellery of high rarity or exceptional craftsmanship also count as Class 2 items.

Class 3 Goods

Class 3 goods are those of extreme luxury. These are items that cannot be produced in the Veil and have to be imported by The Crusaders from beyond The Wall. These are generally reserved for the ulra-wealthy (including The Royal Family). Due to the lack of natural bodies of water in the Veil, this includes seafood. Chocolate and other foods that require a specific climate to be grown would also fall into Class 3.   Non-food Class 3 goods largely consist of mysterious relics and artifacts from the world beyond the Veil. Objects of such significance are strictly under the control of The Veiled Custodians and Royal Family.
