Adventure Summary Session 5

General Summary

Battle Two - For the Cathedral

As everyone prepared to celebrate victory over the goblin attack in the cathedral square, a chanting of goblin gibberish to most, was heard coming from the opposite side of the square. Our party looked and saw two goblins running up the street slashing and killing everything in their path. Two sneaky goblins had crawled out on top of two tents and were throwing flammable items into the bystanders. Havoc reigned everywhere, as the party witnessed a well armored commando goblin and an enchanter goblin surveying the carnage on top of a roof. As the party regrouped to repel the assault in the cathedral square, Father Zantus and his four acolytes screamed for help getting the wounded inside the cathedral for protection. Shialu didn’t hesitate to help, quickly dragging the wounded inside. As the party started running towards danger, the commotion of the attack finally reached beyond the square into the nearby White Deer Inn. Ragnor and Pandereos, already quite inebriated, downed their last tankard and ran toward the battle. Saban, Gorin, Visuma, and Tharuzall engaged the goblins. The enchanter fired many spells at our heroes, but every time they shrugged off his arcane sorcery. The sneaky goblins tried throwing powders, both itching and sneezing, but our heroes laughed at the attempt. With Pandereos and Ragnor joining the fray, it didn’t take long to dispatch all the goblins. Some prisoners were now being held by the arriving town guard.

The North Gate Stand

With confidence now glaring, a shout came from the town guard for help securing the north city gate from more goblins, the heroes sprang into action. As the heroes learned, the goblins succeeded in causing a panic, which made the trek to the north gate a challenge. Visuma, accustomed to getting into tight places, leaped ahead of the party, while yelling at the top of her lungs for Kek. The rest of the party, lagged a little behind, but not as bad as Gorin. Dwarves just travel better underground. Everyone arrived to a heated battle at the north gate. Many town guards were down or badly wounded, while Sheriff Belor battled against many goblins. Ameiko was there fighting desperately for her life, as it seemed defeat was coming. Our heroes fanned out to provide support, especially to a downed noble. Belor was shouting out to secure the portcullis before they could get into the city. In the distance, dust was rising on the caravan road that reflected a horde was approaching. Somehow, during the scramble to get to the north gate, confidence had left our heroes. Pandereos, managed to throw all his weapons on the ground while trying to battle. Ragnor, using his keen intellect, climbed a tree to assess the situation. Ragnor was able to identify many goblins in the tower and along the wall guarding the now raised portcullis. Unfortunately, the karma reached Ragnor as he broke his longbow during the battle. Their chieftain, riding a big goblin dog challenged Tharuzall to a battle. Somehow the chieftain got the upper hand and dropped Tharuzall in the battle. If it wasn’t for the divine magic being cast by Saban, the battle would have been lost. Luckily, Visuma, Kek, and Gorin were able to help overpower some goblins holding the entrance to the tower door and start climbing the stairs of the tower. As the battle continued to rage, both sides taking losses, progress was made to achieve cresting the wall. Gorin, Kek, and Visuma managed to push back those holding the tower door, while at the same time Saban was able to get Tharuzall back on his feet. Tharuzall downed an enlarge person potion to help accelerate the ascent of the wall. With the horde now clearly visible, with a good 30 goblins, it looked grim. Through sheer will and teamwork, Visuma was able to pull the lever to drop the portcullis before they came through. With deafening cries of anger, the horde retreated as more town guards arrived to support the repelling of the attack. Sensing defeat, the remaining goblins surrendered instead of fighting to the death. Victory cries shouted throughout Sandpoint.
