Gynarchy of Hardby
The Gynarchy of Hardby is a council of powerful women who rule over the town of Hardby. The council elects a single leader called a gynarch. While the Gynarchy owns its own lands and rules itself, it does have strong political ties to the Free City of Greyhawk, who provides the majority of the city's defenses, such as the town guard, and road patrols.

History
Hardby began as a simple fishing village in its early years, but as other towns in the area rose to power, Hardby's access to the sea became more and more useful for trade. As they became wealthy and more established in the area, the council of women elders became established as a gynarchy. Hardby eventually became politically tied with the Free City of Greyhawk, when the ruling gynarch married her daughter to the warlord that ruled the city at the time. However, when Greyhawk declared itself a free city, this political tie was broken, but slowly built back up as the decades wore on.
