The Iron Field
The Iron Field is one of the blacksmith shops in Palanthas. It boasts the pedigree of being owned and operated by one of the Heroes of the Lance, Theros Ironfeld.
Theros opened the shop just after the Blue Lady War and crafts made to order weapons and armor as well as making items for the Knights of Solomnia under an open contract. His contract with the Knights provides a steady stream of income, allowing him to be picky on the project his chooses. This also allows him to vary his prices at his discretion. If he likes you, he's been known to do work at rates well below his normal asking price.
In addition to himself, he also has his old friend, and fellow Master Smith, Belkarall working with him in the shop. The old dwarf is as much the equal of Theros, and is a better instructor, so he's in charge of handling the day-to-day training of the apprentices in the shop. Currently, there are three apprentices, with room for another two, should worthy candidates present themselves.
The three current apprentices include
- Naydrin uth Hanin - a young man with modest skill. The newest apprentice, he's still learning the basics and hasn't forged much since starting work at the Iron Field. His entry submission with a well-crafted dagger, with modest design, but perfect balance.
- Davit Korvalson - a teen, close to the end of his apprenticeship. Many of the common pieces in the shop are actually made by Davit, overseen by Belkarall to Theros. He was a refugee during the war when his village (Korval) was destroyed in a dragonarmy attack.
- Molly Willowmay- the lone female in the shop, and one of the few Theros has ever trained. She is a hard worker and has just started working on simple assignments under the eye of Belkarall and Davit.
Theros rarely buys weapons, even magical ones, those he has been known to buy a weapon if it has an interesting design element. Also, he will occasionally buy dragonarmy weapons for scrap value, which he immediately melts down and recasts. Theros also does not forge jewelry or make any leather goods. He will refer interested parties to the appropriate places (Belkarall can be a bit more testy)
Though Theros still possesses the Silver Arm of Ergoth and the Hammer of Kharas, he no longer has any dragonmetal needed to make a true Dragonlance. He does have a Footman's Lance in his shop that he crafted during the war, along with an epic masterwork glave that he forged more recently. Neither the Dragonlance nor the master glave is for sale.
