Viddasala

Viddasala was a senior agent of the Qunari priesthood. She held great power over the Qun-based spy organization, the Ben-Hassrath.   Sometime after the Ferelden Civil War, Viddasala attempted to launch a mass assassination on Ferelden and Orlesian leaders. She was thwarted and was killed. Her actions were later disavowed by other leaders of the Qunari who claimed Viddasala's actions were not indicative of the Qunari people.

Personal history

Viddasala was one of the three leaders of the Ben-Hassrath. It is unknown the extent of her responsibilities, but it is known that one of her tasks was to find, study, and stop magic. This makes sense given the Qunari people's hatred and disgust of magic.   Her existence was not known until a group of Wardens caught word of a Dragon's Breath conspiracy. As they followed the trail of the conspiracy, they learned of her involvement and what the plan was even about. The exact conspiracy has since been lost in translation, but what is commonly believed is that Viddasala's plan was to simultaneously kill most of the leadership of southern Thedas, rendering the south vulnerable to Qunari occupation and conversion. These same rumors say that she was planning on calling upon dragons to annihilate her enemies. How she would've been able to tame and use dragons against her enemies is unknown.   Fortunately those same Wardens who were on her tail, headed by Warden-Commander Gregory Flume, were able to stop her before she was able to follow through with the killings. In that encounter, she was killed. If the Wardens hadn't been so lucky and timely, most fear that the remaining nations of Thedas would've been locked into a losing war against the Qunari people.   Her actions caused a great amount of panic amongst many of the world's leaders, most of them fearing Qunari invasion was imminent. In response to this, in an unprecedented move, one of the Qunari leaders met with King Gregory Flume and Empress Celene Valmont I. Ariqun, one of the leaders and the "soul" of the Qun, responded to their claims of warmongering by disavowing Viddasala's actions. Ariqun also suggested that no invasion nor hostility was planned against the nations of Thedas. Few know what heated arguments went on amongst those three leaders.

Morality & Philosophy

In short exchanges with her enemies, she voiced her opinions. She saw the world as drowned by the chaotic dangers of magic and saw it as her duty to do whatever was necessary to snuff out magic no matter the cost.   Though many see her as a the villain, her ideology isn't one that is all that far-fetched. Following the Danforth Incident, Thedas was shaken and not long after many Circles fell. It was a time where the mage rebellion was starting to gain momentum. The rebellion was driven by chaos and drove them into a conflict that began not just hurting those immediately involved, but even those common-folk of Thedas' nations. Viddasala saw this chaos and believed that it was the fault of the leaders of these nations for being negligent and allowing such suffering to occur.
