Session 7 - "The Battle of Titan's Gate" Report

General Summary

Fighting in the streets of Titan's Gate

  • Kythos fought a group of Daggereye Raiders in the streets outside The Temple of Heliod, within The Temple of The Triarchy
  • During the fighting, many warriors of the Alamon were killed, including Alos (the first such warrior that Kythos encountered within Titan's Gate
  • The Raiders used glass flasks containing a blue liquid that exploded with black fire, with which they destroyed numerous buildings, including a statue to King Goran III "The Mighty" of Akros and Queen Jocasta "Thrice-wed" of Akros
  • Cathal Daggereye appeared and led some raiders towards the gate, where he implied General Teraklos, of the Second Legion would be
  • Kythos and Timon followed on horseback, but their horse was killed by a large explosion of blackfire created by Cathal Daggereye

Trinnia's Taverna

  • Kythos and Timon made good progress following Cathal Daggereye (despite losing their mount). However, Kythos stopped to help the residents of Trinnia's Taverna, despite Timon's insistence that they continue on...
  • Kythos saved Varyas, The Eidolon and some of the other townspeople from being crushed, but could not save Trinnia, who died shouting "for Akros!"
  • Kythos led the residents of the taverna towards The Alamon Academy. Along the way, they encountered a Raider, who almost killed Kythos. Varyas, The Eidolon killed the Raider, and led the survivors on to safety.

The Titan's Gate

  • On getting to the gate, Kythos saw the remaining soldiers of The Lukos forming a Tetsudo within the opening of the gate, barring further Daggereyes from entering the city.
  • Kythos encountered the dying Timon, who informed him that the general had entered the wall with Sarania , and that they were going to light the beacon atop the wall.
  • Timon also informed Kythos that Cathal Daggereye had led his men back to the Temple of The Triarchy, but that Kythos must ensure the general's safety...
  • Timon told Kythos that to enter the wall, he must speak the words "Giant's Blood" in Akroan
  • Kythos decided to leave the general and Sarania , and instead return to the temple

The Battle at The Temple of Heliod

The Aftermath

  • Kythos swore himself to Heliod, in return for Heliod healing Xercos' mortal injuries, casting aside the favour of his former patron, Iroas
  • Kythos encountered Sarania and soldiers of The Lukos outside the temple, seemingly summoned by the beacon having been lit in the distance
  • Kythos witnessed The Lukos of the Second Legion rounding up non-human citizens "for a trial", due to be held tomorrow at The Alamon Academy
  • Kythos also learned that General Teraklos, of the Second Legion had been killed, by none other than the Minotaur Taurion
  • Ochesios then gave Kythos the completed translation of Varyas' Mask:

Shadows cloak our god's demise, For Phenax, in death now lies. In death's embrace, his schemes unfurl, Unknown to gods above, and below, the world.       Xenagos's rise, a terrible masquerade, A distraction woven, our god's charade. While Theros bled in battles grim, He embarked on a purpose known only to him.
Then there was a break in the translation, and something harder to decipher...
Mortal Phenax, he fathered kin, The one foretold, needed for us to win. Drawn to Akros, by destiny's call, To fulfill our plan, he must not fall.       The golden apple, will be his sign, Vital role in the Deceiver's design. Phenax's death, eternal shall be, If dead, Kythos we see.       As destiny weaves its intricate strand, The Deceiver's return, in shadows, is planned. A game of deception, where truth and lies, Dance in the realm where the gods' power vies.
